Arts Council Funding

The Bullpen was granted substantial Arts Council funding to run metal-casting workshops for artists and visitors over 2009-10. The award has been used to develop our audience, to develop our artist programme and to run four large casting events.
Highlights incude the Iron Pour (August 2009) attended by over 150 visitors, including local MP Ed Vaizey. Iron sculpture for 12 artists was cast along with iron tiles for Uffington Primary School and for individual visiting participants in the workshop. Local ale & hog roast, icecream and local band Mammoth & The Drum were enjoyed as well as the exhibition in The Bullpen Gallery and the spectacle of the 'pour' itself.

What they say about The Bullpen:

Having spent a memorable afternoon and morning on a bronze casting workshop for non-artists, I can wholeheartedly recommend this type of event to anyone. As an art historian, it was especially valuable for me to be able to experience at first hand the process of making the type of object I spend my working life studying. Furthermore, coming to watch the final pouring of the hot molten bronze into our moulds was a thrilling experience.
